Mapbox started because of the power of location. Working in Afghanistan, Congo, Haiti, and the United States we saw how data and maps can shine a bright light on the hardest of problems. This spirit drives our mission to get the best location tools into the hands of changemakers around the world.

Sometimes you need someone to help you build. We can provide technical feedback and facilitate collaboration with volunteers from across Mapbox.
Discounts and special permissions

Get a kickstart for your project with simple blueprints for common situations, like mapping from a spreadsheet or building a storytelling map. Explore tutorials and templates.
Promotion and partnership
Let’s get the word out about your work to grow your impact. We can collaborate on shared storytelling, events, networking, and long-term partnerships.
We’re leaning into four areas where Mapbox tools can create
positive impact at scale.
We’re working with customers across logistics and transportation sectors to reduce emissions, from making fleet dispatch and delivery more efficient to electric vehicle routing. If you work with drivers or need to move people or supplies, let us know.
For years we’ve worked with partners to keep essential services online during natural disasters, humanitarian crises, and public health emergencies. This year we’re looking beyond maps to apply our logistics tools and movement data to crisis response and preparedness.
The maps of our partners and customers are used by millions of people when they go hiking, running, camping, hunting, off-roading, bird-watching and more. Our team is exploring ways to use location data to help people be good stewards of the places they enjoy.
Maps are central to travel plans. Let’s explore how maps can help visitors be respectful and connect with the communities they visit. Collaborate with us, our commercial travel customers, and partners focused on community-based and sustainable tourism.
How we work
Location tools help you make better decisions, achieve better results, and tell better stories. The Mapbox Community team exists to support individuals and organizations using these tools for positive impact.
Invest in changemakers
Location is a critical piece of many challenges, from disaster response to disease surveillance to environmental protection and beyond. We offer a range of support to those who are building solutions.
Increase access and inclusion
Everyone working for the greater good should have access to the best tools available. We invest in open data and open source communities, donate and discount our tools, and create diverse learning resources.
Engage through action
Positive change also requires direct action. We partner with leaders in local and global communities to contribute our time, expertise, and resources.
Vaccines.gov is the source of truth for where the COVID-19 vaccine supply is available in communities across the US.
World Bank Data Partnership
We are exploring novel data sources and analysis, from using movement data to coordinate crisis response to using traffic data to optimize infrastructure.
Visualize No Malaria
Together with PATH, Zambia’s Ministry of Health, Tableau, and other partners we're building health data dashboards to help eliminate malaria.
Black Lives Matter
Volunteer developers Frank Romo and Malcolm MacLachlan visually documented the historic growth of the BLM movement.
Better preparation for flooding — powered by maps, geocodes, and building footprints.
