Speakers
Brad Samuels is a founding partner at SITU Research, a firm that merges data and design to create new pathways for justice. SITU's work mobilizes an arsenal of technologies to identify and surface critical evidence and then shape it into a narrative, driven by transparent, accurate sourcing. Investigating cases of state violence and violations of human rights around the world, SITU's work applies a wide range of new tools and methods to legal, advocacy and journalistic formats.
Brad also sits on the Technology Advisory Board for the International Criminal Court, The Advisory Board for the Carnegie Mellon's Center for Human Rights Science and the board of The Architectural League of New York. He currently teaches Thesis at the Cooper Union School of Architecture.
Steve Attewell manages a team of User Experience and User Interface designers who design, test, and build digital mapping interfaces across web and mobile for the Ordnance Survey, UK Government, and commercial customers. His role includes UX research, customer interviews, testing propositions, stakeholder workshops, usability testing, and working with agile development teams.
Steve has over 28 years experience in User Experience design, building business websites, and web application development, for business, government, and consumer product interfaces.
Steve is a respected innovator in the geospatial industry, known for researching and testing new technologies for customer-facing interfaces and enhancing digital engagement. Follow Steve on Twitter and LinkedIn for thought-provoking map design experiments.
Krithika Prabhu leads the Mapbox Maps team, driving a core focus on solving meaningful problems for Mapbox customers and meeting business needs. Krithika also leads engineering collaborations with Mapbox customers in the Weather sector.
Prior to Mapbox, Krithika directed product management at TaskRabbit and was a product manager at Autodesk and Goodyear. Outside of work, Krithika is an avid hiker and paints pet portraits to raise funds for animals in need.
Marena Smith leads Customer Marketing collaborations and Social Impact partnerships at Mapbox. Everyday, she supports and celebrates the innovation and positive impact of Mapbox employees and customers.
Before joining Mapbox, Marena led participatory mapping initiatives for land use planning, indigenous and community land rights protection, and natural resource management.
Alistair Miller leads development of Imagery and Raster products at Mapbox, as well as managing strategic imagery partnerships.
Prior to Mapbox, Alistair spent 18 years in product roles at Maxar’s predecessors DigitalGlobe and GeoEye, as well as startups OminEarth, BlackSky, and Wireless Registry. He has also served as a mentor for the Techstars Allied Space Accelerator, supporting startup founders develop go-to-market and product strategies.
Åsa Forsell is a Senior Product Manager for the Mapbox Maps SDKs, though her journey of building with Mapbox began back in 2017 when she worked on one of the first Mapbox automotive partnerships, Mapbox for Kanzi Digital Cockpits.
With eight years of experience working on human-machine interface technology projects for major automotive companies, including Hyundai, Stellantis, Mercedes, Audi and Lamborghini, Åsa has helped to shape the driver experience within over 100 million vehicles on the road today. Åsa also has two years of experience working in mobile games and game streaming technology with the Angry Birds creator, Rovio.
Mathew Antony leads product for Mapbox GL JS, the Mapbox Javascript library for building web applications, and Mapbox Studio, the browser-based interface for designing custom Mapbox map styles. In his two years at Mapbox, Mathew has redesigned the user journey for new Mapbox users and has supported six releases of GL JS, most recently bringing Globe view to the world.
Prior to Mapbox, Mathew spent seven years building productivity software at Dropbox.
Robert Florance is a Product Manager on the Mapbox Geocoding team, where he has lead development of the v6 release of the Geocoding API, offering enhanced precision, transparency, and efficiency of geocoding results to improve accuracy and the developer experience.
Prior to joining Mapbox, Robert was based out of Tokyo working on Open Banking fintech products. He also has experience as a software developer and a cattle rancher. When Robert isn’t thinking about geocoding, he enjoys skiing from his home town of Salt Lake City.
Murat Bahar is a Senior Product Manager for the Search team at Mapbox, where he specializes in enhancing location search experiences via a range of APIs, SDKs, and libraries. With a passion for crafting solutions, Murat is particularly focused on developing tools that empower other developers.
Prior to joining Mapbox, he co-founded two startups and held roles in both product management and consulting within large tech organizations. In his downtime (and sometimes at work), Murat avidly monitors beach cameras to catch the perfect surfing waves along the Southern California coast.
Cris Byers is the Product Manager for the Mapbox Boundaries and Mapbox Movement data products. Cris brings a passion for building products that improve the lives of every data user in the geospatial industry.
Cris brings extensive geospatial experience to Mapbox, having worked as a surveyor and geoscientist for ten years, followed by five years as a software development with a geospatial mindset. Outside of work, Cris enjoys board gaming, woodworking, and making beautiful maps.
Ilya Subbotin is a Senior Product Manager on the Mapbox Navigation team, where he manages development of MapGPT, the location-intelligent AI assistant that drivers can communicate with using natural language.
Prior to Mapbox, Ilya managed product development spanning maps, navigation, smart devices, and voice assistance. Ilya brings 12 years of experience creating products for millions of users across the automotive, internet, voice tech, and GIS industries.
Fawwaz Alhenn is the product lead for Mapbox for EV, spearheading new features and product developments that improve the navigation experience for EV drivers.
Before joining Mapbox, he led product management teams in multiple business domains and has extensive experience in technology consulting, working for Fortune 500 companies such as Oracle, Accenture, and Conduent. Fawwaz enjoys driving on backroads and race tracks and is passionate about helping customers build products that are accelerating adoption of electric vehicles.
Shray Khullar is a Senior Product Manager for Navigation at Mapbox, where he is focused on building navigation products for Electric Vehicles. Shray is motivated by the mission to simplify mobility and believes location technologies are a powerful way to transform everyday life for people around the world.
Prior to Mapbox, Shray spent 10 years across R&D roles in semiconductor design, product management, and product marketing for SaaS applications. When not working, he loves to talk about the future of food.
Ryan Leidigh is the Product Manager for Mapbox Logistics API products including the Matrix, Optimization, and Isochrone APIs. Ryan also leads collaborations with Mapbox customers in the On-Demand Logistics sector.
Ryan has been a product manager and strategy lead in the software industry for over a decade, working in the logistics, geospatial, and earth and space science industries. Ryan is also a qualified submarine officer and thoroughly mediocre guitarist.
Michael Gionfriddo is the Product Manager for the Mapbox Navigation SDKs, where he brings deep domain expertise in automotive and mobility use cases. Prior to joining Mapbox, Michael worked directly on Level-4 autonomy motion planning systems, Level-2 driver monitoring systems, instrument cluster UX design, and wireless EV charging systems.
Angela Navarro leads Directions Services at Mapbox, helping customers build world class navigation experiences. Prior to joining the Directions team, Angela led engineering for Mapbox Telemetry products Mapbox Traffic and Mapbox Movement.
Angela has a background in computer science and likes to obsess over routing problems and data privacy.
Greg Banecker manages product marketing responsibilities for Mapbox Maps. Prior to Mapbox, Greg spent 9 years leading marketing efforts in the travel and leisure industry. Greg lives in the Philadelphia area with his wife and daughter. He enjoys camping in the Adirondack Mountains, watching Syracuse basketball, and building his travel pin collection.
Owen Powell is a Senior Product Designer on the Mapbox Map Design Team. Owen is a cartographer with a special interest in 3D mapping and rendering, and has worked extensively on Mapbox Standard from concept design to production. Based in the UK, Owen has a background in art and design and has worked as a GIS consultant on major international projects.
Lukas Martinelli is the GM of Navigation SDKs and Applications at Mapbox. Prior to this role Lukas was the GM of Search where he led service expansion in Japan and feature development such as Point-Of-Interest search.
Lukas joined Mapbox in 2017 after developing several popular open-source tools for map developers and publishing his thesis on creating vector maps from open data. He has an extensive background in developing distributed systems for processing geospatial data and serving them to hundreds of millions of users. At Mapbox, Lukas has been the driver of major product launches, expansions to new geographies, and building data pipelines.
Garrett Miller leads Navigation, Search, and data quality for Mapbox. Garrett and his team build the products and technologies that power how Mapbox customers explore and navigate the world around them. As part of the Mapbox leadership team, Garrett drives strategy for the Mapbox mission to power navigation for people, packages, and vehicles everywhere.
Garrett joined Mapbox from Verra Mobility, a publicly traded smart transportation company, where he served as the EVP and GM for the smart city business unit. Before that, Garrett served as the Chief Digital Officer at a GE division where he built businesses targeting the smart building and smart cities markets. Prior to GE, Garrett held a series of senior leadership roles at SAP where he built and scaled high-performing global teams, products, and commercialization strategies.
Sean Graber heads Search products at Mapbox, leading the product and engineering teams that create the APIs, SDKs and data products that unlock location search and data enrichment for millions of developers and businesses.
Prior to joining Mapbox, Sean was a General Manager and Product leader at Tripadvisor, where he launched the company's first direct-to-consumer subscription product and created Reco, a marketplace for travel advisors. Sean also has experience as a management consultant, entrepreneur, and economist.
