Chris Whong

Senior Developer Evangelist

Chris Whong is a Senior Developer Evangelist at Mapbox, and heads our Developer Relations Program. He has an extensive background as a civic technologist, including work building modern web mapping and data visualization applications in local government and advocating for open data. He teaches web mapping for Urban Planners at New York University, and loves helping others learn new technical skills and building communities of interest.

Liesl Perez

Head of Corporate Marketing at Mapbox

Liesl Perez spent over 20 years in the translation industry learning to communicate with people from all walks of life before becoming the Head of Corporate Marketing at Mapbox where she oversees content, community, brand, web design, and global communications. Before joining Mapbox, she held leadership roles in corporate marketing at TTEC, Hubilo, and SDL. She is an active corporate philanthropist, raising money for causes that promote sustainable economic development and diversity initiatives. She holds a B.A. in International East Asian studies from Kalamazoo College. When she's not engaged in creative pursuits, Liesl is a fan of off-roading and the outdoors.

Principal Evangelist

Will White is Chief Evangelist at Mapbox, helping companies large and small achieve their goals with location technology. Will’s experience comes from over a decade as a founding member of the Mapbox team, a real-time location platform for a new generation of location-aware businesses. Will contributed to virtually every aspect of the company’s growth from engineering, product, sales, and marketing. Through his work at Mapbox he advised dozens of companies at various stages on creative strategies to drive growth.

Alex Barth

VP Automotive

Alex Barth leads the automotive business unit at Mapbox. He has spearheaded partnerships to launch major automotive manufacturers powered by the Mapbox platform, shape the Mapbox automotive product strategy and assembled a team of business developers, engineers, and designers to build the future of navigation in automobiles everywhere.

Prior to Mapbox, Alex led business development and engineering engagements in the boutique consulting firm Development Seed, implementing location-driven data strategies for multilateral partners like the World Bank and the United Nations. Alex holds a masters degree in Media Technology and Design from the University of Applied Sciences, Upper Austria.

Varun Kalyan is a Senior Product Manager at Mapbox leading Static Maps working on solving customer problems and strategizing on product enghancements and ways to grow the business. He’s been in search & maps space for around 5 years in the travel industry with Marriott International and over all 10+ years in the industry with background in product, data analytics and customer experience with Totalwine & TMobile. He has a Master’s in Human Factors Engineering from Wright State University, is an Arsenal fan & avid traveler with a goal of covering all 5 continents, atleast a 50 countries and all 50 US states.

David Broza is a Tech Lead from ANWB - The Royal Dutch Touring club in the Netherlands. He has a background in mobile native and backend development. At ANWB, David helps teams to create mobile apps, including a turn-by-turn navigation app built on the Mapbox stack.

Shray Khullar

Senior Product Manager

Shray Khullar is Sr. Product Manager for Navigation at Mapbox. Since joining Mapbox in 2021, he is focussed on building navigation products for Electric Vehicles. He cares about simplifying people's mobility and believes location technology is a powerful tool that will continue to embed deeply in our everyday lives. Prior to Mapbox, he spent 10+ years across R&D roles in semiconductor design, product management and product marketing for SaaS applications. He holds a Masters degree in Business Administration from University of California, Berkeley and Bachelors in Electronics & Communication Engineering from Delhi College of Engineering. When not working, he loves to talk about the future of food.

Ryan Leidigh

Senior Product Manager

Ryan Leidigh (he/him) is the Product Manager for Mapbox’s Logistics API product line, leading the Matrix, Optimization, and Isochrone teams. He has been a product and strategy manager in the software industry for over a decade, working in the logistics, geospatial, and Earth & space science industries. Ryan earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Purdue University, is a graduate of the Navy Nuclear Power School, and is a qualified submarine officer.

Dr. Katayoun Kish

Head of Data at ACLED

Dr. Katayoun Kishi is the Head of Data at ACLED and has been with the organization since April 2019. She manages the storing, organizing and improvement of ACLED data, oversees the weekly publication of data, advises on new approaches to improving data collection and management, and leads ACLED's data science initiatives. Dr. Kishi holds a PhD in Government and Politics from the University of Maryland with a concentration in comparative politics and quantitative methodology. She previously held positions at Pew Research Center and the United States Institute of Peace. She is fluent in English, Farsi and basic French.

Charan Lota

Charan Lota serves as Executive Chief Engineer & Vice President, Connected Technologies at Toyota Motor North America (TMNA) as well as Program Manager, Connected Company, Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC).

Since beginning his career at Toyota in 2000, Charan has served in several positions across Toyota’s North American operations in Michigan and Texas. Charan has worked across vehicle cockpit design, cockpit electronics development and now in connected technologies for the last 4 years.

In his role, Charan oversees the design, development and implementation of the company’s connected car ecosystem and is driving transformational change through cutting edge technology, data and connectivity. Most recently, Charan led the concept planning, design, evaluation and launch for the all new next generation Multimedia Systems for the North America region. Debuting in the 2022 Lexus NX as Lexus Interface and in the 2022 Toyota Tundra as the all new Toyota Audio Multimedia system, the solution delivers a gamechanging and best-in-class customer experience. Charan was the first Multimedia Chief Engineer in Toyota outside of Japan.T

hroughout his time at Toyota, Charan has received over 35 design patents in various Domains. Charan graduated from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and completed the Ross School of Business Strategic Leaders Program in 2016.

Elizabeth Dinevski

Director of Data Science

Elizabeth Dinevski is a data scientist, consultant, and strategist at her core. She loves working with companies to understand where they are in their data and analytics journey and how to get them to the next level. She currently serves as the Director of Data Science at phData, a mid-sized consultancy specializing in the end-to-end data and analytics lifecycle. Elizabeth is passionate about digital transformation and finding ways to incorporate data science into business processes to enable automation and augmented decision-making.

Mathew Antony

Product Lead

Mathew leads product for Mapbox GL-JS (our Javascript library for building web apps) and Studio (our best-in-class snazzy web tool to quickly design beautiful maps). In his two years at Mapbox, he’s redesigned the Mapbox new user journey and supported six releases of GL-JS, most recently bringing Globe view to the world.Prior to Mapbox, Mathew spent seven years building productivity software at Dropbox (clearly he can’t think outside the “box”).

Noel Cothren

Senior Frontend Engineer

Noel Cothren is a Senior Frontend Engineer currently working on the Data Explorer team at Noteable.io. After a web development bootcamp in 2017, she dove head first into the field — first running a successful web business, then going on to lead the design and development of dozens of websites and several web applications for early-stage startups. She leverages her past experience as an artist and a teacher to build beautiful web interfaces, bringing an artistic flair and a focus on usability to all of her projects. When she’s not making UIs more delightful, you can find her enjoying the serene wilderness of New Mexico with her husband and three German Shepherd dogs.

Sean Graber

Head of Geocoding

Sean Graber is the Head of Geocoding at Mapbox. Prior to joining Mapbox, he was a General Manager and Product leader at Tripadvisor, where he launched the company's first direct-to-consumer subscription product and created Reco, a marketplace for travel advisors. Sean also has experience as a management consultant, entrepreneur, and economist. Sean has an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, an MA in International Economics from the Universidad de Valencia (Spain), and a BA from the University of Virginia. When Sean is not thinking about geospatial data and search, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife and three daughters.

Andres Chamorro

Geographer

Andres Chamorro is a Geographer in the World Bank’s Data Group, where he integrates novel geospatial analytics to development operations. He has developed python tools to implement road network analyses, analyze remote sensing data, and integrate non-traditional data sources. He holds a BA degree in Geography from Middlebury College.

Simon Ouellette

CEO of Mogile Technologies

Simon holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from McGill University.

He started in the field of electric vehicles almost two decades ago, leading the team that designed and built the world’s first lithium–ion battery-powered electric snowmobile and then went on to design and build custom electric and hybrid snowmobiles for some high-profile clients such as the U.S. National Science Foundation, Defence R&D Canada and the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics.

As the president & CEO of Mogile Technologies, his primary focus for almost 10yrs now has been making public EV charging as simple, intuitive, and collaborative as possible through the creation and refinement of the ChargeHub platform.
