Mapbox Global Volunteer Month 2026: Giving back across communities worldwide

At Mapbox, building for the world goes beyond maps — it extends to the communities we live and work in. During Global Volunteer Month 2026, Mapboxers around the world came together to give their time, energy, and care to local initiatives that make a meaningful difference.

From supporting food banks and community gardens to connecting with seniors and improving public spaces, teams across cities stepped away from their desks and into their neighborhoods. These efforts reflect a shared commitment: contributing to stronger, more connected communities through hands-on action.

Here’s a look at how Mapbox teams showed up across the globe.

Minsk

Mapboxers in Minsk spent time helping clean and beautify the local Uruchye Park.

London

Mapboxers in London volunteered at Edward Alsop Court, a hostel that helps provide accommodations for the unhoused with complex needs.

Berlin

Our team in Berlin partnered with Berliner Tafel food bank, sorting food donations and preparing packages of food for later distribution to local community members in need.

Helsinki

Team Helsinki visited Riistavuori Senior Centre, helping spread joy and connection to local senior citizens, through the power of song at a Beatles Sing Along.

Washington, D.C.

Mapboxers in Washington, D.C. partnered with City Blossoms, a nonprofit that “cultivates the well-being of our communities through creative programming in kid-driven gardens," helping clear a local garden from invasive Japanese knotweed. 

San Francisco

Our team in San Francisco spent the afternoon at the SF-Marin Foodbank, helping intake and sort food into boxes that will go out to feed hungry community members.

Global Volunteer Month is a reminder that small, local actions can create lasting impact.
