Mapbox Geocoding entrance data expands to Europe
Building entrance data for more than 100 million addresses across 19 European countries is now available in public preview

Today, Mapbox is expanding building entrance data in the Mapbox Geocoding API to 19 European countries, adding entrance locations for more than 100 million addresses.
First introduced in the United States in Public Preview earlier this year, entrance data helps applications go beyond identifying the right address to identifying the right door. The new European coverage is available today in public preview.
Same Mapbox Geocoding API. Same entrances=true parameter. No new endpoint or separate integration required.
From the right address to the right door

For on-demand delivery, logistics, mobility, and other applications, getting to the correct address is only part of the journey, with the last meters to drop off still remaining. A standard rooftop geocode can accurately identify a building while still leaving a driver on the wrong side of it. In dense cities, apartment complexes, office buildings, and large commercial properties, those final meters can mean extra walking, longer dwell times, calls to customers, or failed delivery attempts.
Mapbox entrance data provides specific building entrance coordinates alongside rooftop and routable point coordinates. Applications can use that additional precision to guide drivers, couriers, and other users toward the appropriate entrance instead of simply the building itself.
Entrance data now available across 19 European countries

The Mapbox Geocoding API now returns entrance data across 19 European countries in addition to existing coverage in the United States and Canada. The new coverage includes Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
The expansion makes it possible for applications operating across multiple markets to use one consistent Geocoding API for rooftop, routable point, and entrance-level location data. Explore entrance data in action with the Geocoding API playground.
Customer spotlight: Hovership sees 43% fewer failed first attempts with Mapbox entrance data

Hovership is a technology-led delivery company providing same-day, next-day, and specialized delivery services across 31 states. Its customers range from single-location businesses to large enterprise programs and 3PLs across retail, healthcare, and B2B delivery.
Hovership also operates its own delivery network, Hovership Direct, where dispatchers and drivers use the same platform the company provides to customers. This gives Hovership a way to test new capabilities on real routes and measure whether better location data improves delivery outcomes.
Hovership was an early adopter of Mapbox entrance data in the United States following our US Public Preview launch. The results demonstrate the measurable impact that greater precision in the final meters can have on delivery operations:
- 43% fewer failed first attempts at addresses with a Mapbox entrance point, with failure rates of 1.3% compared with 2.3% at addresses without an entrance point.
- 63% fewer “incorrect address” failures at addresses with entrance data.
- 44% fewer “no access” failures at addresses with entrance data.
- 87% of completed deliveries occurred within 30 meters of the Mapbox entrance point.
For a network handling roughly 36,000 delivery visits on a typical weekday, improvements in the final meters can mean fewer repeat attempts, fewer address-related exceptions, and more efficient delivery operations. Read the showcase
Our promise to shippers is that they can see the delivery working. That's not a dashboard promise; it's a promise about what happens at the door, and the door is where Mapbox earns its keep for us. Fewer failed first attempts, fewer wrong-address calls, a driver who parks in the right spot. Shippers notice that before they notice anything on a screen.

Enable and test entrance data today
Entrance data is publicly available in the Mapbox Geocoding API (version 5 and version 6). To access entrance data, add just one new parameter to API queries: entrances=true
The API will then include a new property in the API response, found within the routable point array:
routable_points:[
0:{
name:"default"
latitude:52.502087
longitude:13.348777
}
1:{
name:"entrance"
latitude:52.501983
longitude:13.348891
quality:"high"
}]
The same integration works across existing United States and Canada coverage and the new European coverage announced today.
Note: While entrance data is in public preview, request parameters, response structure, and data availability may change. Please refer to the latest Mapbox Geocoding API documentation.

From grocery delivery and field service to rideshare pickups and logistics operations, accurate entrance locations can reduce the time spent searching for the correct door after arrival. Less time spent in the final meters can contribute to better on-time performance, fewer failed attempts, and a better experience for drivers, couriers, and customers.
Every Mapbox account includes 100,000 free Geocoding requests per month, providing an easy way to evaluate entrance data in a specific environment. Create a Mapbox account and enable entrance data with the entrances=true parameter to begin testing.
