Mapbox Makes Its Debut at the Crime and Disaster Prevention Exhibition 2025

March 13, 2025

TOKYO, March 13, 2025 — Mapbox, a leading digital mapping company, will make its inaugural appearance at the "Comprehensive Security and Disaster Prevention Exhibition 2025," scheduled from April 16 to 18, 2025, at Intex Osaka, Japan. The company will also host a session titled "The Future of Disaster Prevention Guided by Digital Maps – Utilizing Real-Time Technology and Weather/Disaster Information."

In the disaster prevention sector, Mapbox uses location information technology to address societal challenges. At the World Bank's "Understanding Risk Global Forum 2024 (UR24)" held last June, Mapbox participated in a joint session, showcasing its platform's role in a "digital evacuation drill" simulating a Nankai Trough earthquake. Additionally, at "CEATEC 2024," Mapbox highlighted advanced cases in disaster prevention and emphasized the importance of digital maps during emergencies. As Japan commemorates 30 years since the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, Mapbox continues to contribute to disaster preparedness in a nation frequently facing natural disasters.

Exploring the Potential of Map Technology in Disaster Prevention: Mapbox Booth & Session

Located in the "Security and Disaster Prevention DX Zone," Mapbox's booth will explore the potential of map technology in disaster prevention. The booth will showcase examples supporting high-speed data processing of weather and disaster information (Japan Weather Layers), real-time visualization technology (Yahoo! Weather & Disaster), and offline map utilization in disaster scenarios (YAMAP). On April 16, a session titled "The Future of Disaster Prevention Guided by Digital Maps – Utilizing Real-Time Technology and Weather/Disaster Information" will be held, introducing initiatives using Mapbox in disaster prevention and discussing disaster countermeasures leveraging digital map technology.

The "Comprehensive Security and Disaster Prevention Exhibition" is one of the largest exhibitions in western Japan focusing on security and disaster prevention. It disseminates information on measures against crimes and disasters, as well as daily preparedness, bringing together the latest products and cutting-edge information in the security and disaster prevention fields. The exhibition features seven thematic zones, including the "Security and Disaster Prevention DX Zone," "Considering Disaster Prevention for Vulnerable Populations Zone," and "Heat Stroke Countermeasures Zone." On April 18, a symposium commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake will be held, reflecting on 30 years of disaster volunteer activities as future disaster preparedness.
