Mapbox to Exhibit for the First Time at the Largest Security and Disaster Prevention Event in Western Japan – "Risk & Disaster Prevention 2025"

Marking 30 years since the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake, disaster preparedness awareness continues to grow. Mapbox, which has emphasized the importance of disaster prevention at global-scale events such as CEATEC and the World Bank-hosted UR24 international conference in Himeji, will take the stage with a session titled:
"The Future of Disaster Prevention with Digital Maps – Leveraging Real-time Technology and Weather & Disaster Information."

This session will showcase how Mapbox supports weather and disaster information, real-time data visualization, and offline mapping, demonstrating its role in advancing disaster resilience through digital map technology.

• Mapbox Weather Service: Without requiring specialized knowledge or dedicated systems, our solution enables real-time processing of Japan Meteorological Agency data (Kikikuru and High-Resolution Precipitation Nowcast), displaying it rapidly on maps and allowing forecast data retrieval by latitude and longitude.
• YAMAP: During disasters, communication infrastructure may be disrupted, making digital maps difficult to use. However, Mapbox’s offline functionality ensures access to maps even without an internet connection and enables notifications for the nearest evacuation shelters. This plays a crucial role in disaster preparedness and response.
• Yahoo! Weather& Disaster: One of Japan’s largest internet service providers, serving 80 million users with around 100 services has migrated to Mapbox to ensure accurate and clear weather and disaster information, even during traffic surges in emergencies. This transition has significantly improved operational efficiency and service quality.
