Melissa Nixon started this week as VP of People at Mapbox after more than 4 years as a Director on the talent team at Facebook. As VP of People, Melissa will be responsible for recruiting, talent development, and all things HR. We are looking forward to having Melissa build on the uniquely awesome culture at Mapbox by directing initiatives to accelerate hiring, scale onboarding, support our incredible people, and maintain focus on diversity and inclusion across the organization. 

Prior to Facebook, Melissa spent almost a decade at Google where she learned how an engineering-led culture can build highly measured and tunable people systems that put our talented people at the heart of everything we do. As a leader at both Google and Facebook, she learned how to design and build systems for constant change as the orgs grew - and outgrew systems - using a data driven approach and a passion for constant improvement. 

As we grow Mapbox, we need leaders across the company who can both support our teams and business today and be builders that expand our operations and drive our products and platform into the future. Melissa’s experience with high growth environments will allow her to hit the ground running with the team in order to develop the best organization by raising the performance bar with every hire and promotion.

Melissa lives in Seattle with her partner Matt, their two sons and dog. She loves to travel, read epic fantasy novels and spend time outdoors boating, skiing, biking and hiking.
