New feature in the Mapbox Navigation SDK enables voice-based, AI-enhanced feedback

The new Feedback Agent in the Mapbox Navigation SDK makes it easy for users to share detailed feedback with app developers using only their voice. By removing the friction of touch-based feedback methods, Feedback Agent opens the door for higher-quality and more frequent reports. Submissions are automatically analyzed and categorized in the cloud, delivering clear, organized insights your team can use to fix issues faster and improve the app experience.

Easy and safe feedback reporting

Most feedback methods require interacting with screens—which can be time-consuming, cumbersome, and distracting—limiting the frequency and quality of feedback from users. Mapbox Feedback Agent overcomes these challenges by letting users send feedback entirely by voice in an experience that feels natural, easy, and safe. Simply tap the feedback button and speak about virtually anything. For example, users could report a missing business, updated business hours, or current conditions such as a road hazard.

Mapbox Feedback Agent understands natural language and context so users can just speak naturally to describe the issue they’re reporting. Users can even provide multiple pieces of feedback in a single session. It takes little effort to use Feedback Agent, which encourages users to send feedback more often.

AI-enhanced feedback processing for rapid response

Feedback Agent uses AI to transcribe, process, and validate submissions, such as removing spam and segmenting multi-issue entries into discrete reports. Feedback Agent AI also adds metadata, tags, and categories to make each feedback item actionable. Your teams will see each piece of feedback submitted through your app, including issues Mapbox resolves for you, such as those related to maps, navigation, road closures, traffic incidents, or trail hazards, saving your developers time and effort.

App developers can review all submitted feedback associated with their Mapbox account in the Feedback Explorer within the Developer console, or via the Feedback Agent API.

With the Feedback Agent API, developers can ingest and process feedback data to create custom pipelines that fit seamlessly into their infrastructure and applications. Developers can also enable functionality to notify users when an action has been taken based on submitted feedback. 

Better feedback for better results

Mapbox Feedback Agent enables better visibility into how real-world map and navigation details impact users. Increased reporting informs rapid improvement of map details, delivery instructions, and other app content to better serve and delight end users of your app. Accurate app content makes all the difference in meeting a delivery promise, providing a great trip experience, and improving road safety for all users.

In on-demand logistics, Feedback Agent equips delivery couriers to quickly report hazards, delays, or missing details in delivery instructions. For example, delivery drivers can report a blocked alley or enhance drop-off guidance with specific instructions. Mapbox Feedback Agent also helps developers to close the feedback loop with drivers by acknowledging when a reported issue has been addressed.

In public transportation, transit operators can use Feedback Agent to flag road closures or a detour in order to alert operations teams to notify riders and update ETAs, improving communication and trust. 

For automotive applications, Feedback Agent makes it easy for drivers to provide real-time feedback on road conditions, construction, traffic incidents, or even provide qualitative feedback on a particular route just as naturally as chatting with a friend in the passenger seat.

Fitness and outdoor apps benefit from hands-free functionality as well. Hikers, cyclists, and runners can report trail conditions and hazards like a fallen tree or washed out path, or pass along tips and recommendations to other trail users.
