The holiday season is upon us once again and many of us are searching for the perfect gift for our loved ones. One Mapbox customer is helping folks do just that, with the gift of custom maps.

Popular travel YouTubers, Kara and Nate, are excited to be using Mapbox to power their new custom travel maps store, atlas.co. Unlike other custom map sites that simply allow you to focus your print on an individual city, atlas.co allows you to commemorate your road and air trips.

While we were forced to cancel most travel plans during the pandemic, that doesn’t mean we can’t look ahead to plans for 2021 or remember the road trip you took this summer.

Using a unique set of Mapbox APIs, atlas.co can bring those memories to life. Custom map styles created within Mapbox Studio are displayed on the web using Mapbox GL JS. Search for your city or destination powered by Mapbox Search or display your road trip route from the Mapbox Directions API.

“Mapbox’s comprehensive platform was a one-stop shop for all of the underlying tools we needed to power atlas.co’s map editor. Mapbox Studio empowers our designers to quickly customize maps with different features and colors, and Mapbox GL JS, along with the Directions API and Temporary Geocoding API, enabled our web development team to be extremely productive and get to market faster. Mapbox’s scale, existing customer base, and uptime also give our DevOps team confidence that the social media traffic drive by Kara and Nate’s YouTube channel and other social media sites, can handle the performance of our e-commerce store.” — Austin Eldridge, President & CTO, atlas.co
