Sam is a Core Tech engineer developing the vector tile encoding pipeline behind Mapbox Studio. He brings his knowledge of Node.js to help build, distribute, and document tools used for geospatial data processing. He is passionate about making the open source community as welcoming as possible through clear docs and goofy illustrations.
Sam lives in Seattle, WA and helps organize CUGOS. When not making maps he is playing soccer, backpacking in the Cascades, or failing to build things out of wood. Sam graduated from the University of Wisconsin with degrees in Environmental Geography and Conservation Biology.
