A veteran of open data, data analytics, and technology policy, Michael leads Mapbox’s work to raise the availability and quality of open geographic data and to partner with commercial data suppliers around the world to source the most detailed, accurate, and up-to-date map data for all Mapbox’s products.
Prior to Mapbox, Michael was Director of Digital Learning and Legal Advisor to the Chairman at the Federal Communications Commission where he oversaw a five billion dollar expansion of the FCC’s investment in broadband to schools and creation of the U.S.’s largest ever rural broadband extension program. Prior to the FCC, Michael led efforts to expand access to lifesaving drugs in poor countries through licensing reform and patent litigation. Michael graduated from Yale University and Yale Law School and clerked for Judge David S. Tatel on the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals.
