Matt is a software engineer on Mapbox’s Satellite team, building applications and distributed computing systems to process earth observation data at scale. With deep knowledge of open source software, Unix systems, cloud computing, and geospatial analyses, Matt puts these tools together to ensure our systems run smoothly and stay on the cutting edge.
Prior to Mapbox, Matt worked in the natural resources industry creating software systems and geospatial analyses for forestry, agriculture and marine conservation. Matt has been an active participant in the open source geospatial community and his perrygeo blog has been a learning resource for geospatial developers since 2005. A graduate of Humboldt State University, Matt and his family have lived all over America (and occasionally outside of it) and now reside in Fort Collins, CO where he enjoys the rivers and trails of the Rocky Mountains with his wife and son.
