Steve Halliwell joins Mapbox as VP of Sales today. The combination of his sales experience from years at AWS, where he was General Manager, AWS Commercial Business - West Area, to his most recent work as Chief Product Officer at Promethean brings the magical combination of deep technical expertise and go to market leadership. Steve will help scale our practice of working closely with customers to discover new use cases that help transform their businesses with location technology.
At Mapbox, Steve will build upon our go-to-market foundation and expand our customer-focused sales team, which deeply understands what matters to our customers and provides solutions that address their needs in a measurable way.
Steve started his career at Microsoft as an architect before moving into sales. At Microsoft, Steve became an expert selling developer tools as the building blocks for creating enterprise-grade applications. Steve joined AWS in 2011 when it was still in startup mode and there were just ~35 people in the sales organization. Steve built multiple verticals up from nothing and drove cloud transformation across the Fortune 500, mid-market, and startup segments. In 2018, Steve joined Promethean, a global edtech hardware/software company with an SDK for developers. There he led both sales and product and helped the company and its education customers navigate the complexities of the COVID-19 crisis.
Steve enjoys playing guitar badly, running and cycling, and paddle boarding. He also receives adult supervision and guidance from his partner Caren as well as their two children.
