Responding to yesterday’s magnitude-7.5 earthquake near the Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan, the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team immediately started monitoring the situation for priority mapping needs. HOT is reaching out to potential responders on the ground and is identifing imagery gaps. HOT Member Hameed Tasal from Jalalabad, Afhganistan has joined the activation to connect local responders and mappers.
Mapbox is working closely with HOT on the Activation: Maning Sambale is co-leading the effort, data teams are mapping tasks, and imagery is being queued by Camilla Mahon.
HOT activation over Nangarngar Province, one of the affected regions in Easten Afghanistan.
Join the effort. And if you are attending the OGP Summit, map with us tomorrow at the OpenStreetMap Mapathon!
