Last week the Financial Times launched with new custom branded MapBox maps in their signature pink and in-house fonts. These new maps also come with a labels and streets layer specifically designed for MapBox Satellite. While stylistically very similar, the Financial Times satellite layer is not just labels on transparent backgrounds. Labels, text halos and stroke sizes have all been manually adjusted to ensure legibility across a variety of backgrounds and zoom levels. Road networks are indicated in a subtle manner, providing just enough context to orient viewers without obscuring imagery.
