New Multilingual Modular Layers from MapBox

July 13 2011 By AJ Ashton

Continuing with our effort to provide more options for mapmakers to take advantage of MapBox’s new compositing feature, today we are releasing five new transparent world borders tilesets. The data used to create these borders comes from the World Bank and provides world country names in five different languages: English, French, Spanish, Arabic, and Chinese.

The country names in each language are provided by the World Bank’s open data API, available with a generous terms of use.

World Bank Arabic, composited over Natural Earth.

These maps are available as MBTiles downloads from MapBox.com, or to MapBox customers as shared maps from the MapBox account.
